Vagina Monologues Kenya: What happened??

V-Day is an adaption of Eve Ensler's play, The Vagina Monologues. The V-Day Community Campaign invites communities around the world to present productions of The Vagina Monologues.

The proceeds from the initiative benefit female victims of violence and sexual abuse. Mumbi Kaigwa spear headed the V-Monologues in Kenya in 2003. I first attended V-Day performance at the Grahamstown Festival, South Africa.

There was a V-Day event that was held in 2005 at the Carnivore, I can't recall the exact dates. I was out of the country then and a friend of mine told me about the performances.

Local artist and designer Kaz shared a very moving story of how she was abused as a teenager.

I believe that alot has been done to break the silence on violent crimes against women and girls in Kenya notably by organisations like Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW).

Local thespian Mumbi Kaigwa who popularised the V-Monologues in Kenya set an example that alot of players in creative arts industry in Kenya should follow.

I am looking forward to the next V-Monologues whether I attend here at home in Kenya or elsewhere in the world because I know it is a platform where I will be inspired to join a worthy cause.

The last V-Monologues were held in 2005, does anybody know if there any plans to hold another one in Kenya?
